He turned three this week. He asked for chocolate cake, then wondered whether it could perhaps be filled with icecream? So we had both.
Darcy took one look at Quinn's new wooden marble run and decided he would stay home from school for the day. While they were busy assembling blocks and launching marbles all over the floorboards I overheard Darcy explaining to Quinn that Lewis and he were neither of them getting married when they grew up, but would live together always.
"Are you going to get married Quinn?"
How I love this boy - who smiles whenever I read the inscription written inside the hardback book carefully chosen for each birthday, then acts out every crossed kiss. Kisses rain down on his baby sister's head too, and he has stepped from his place as baby boy to big brother with hardly a murmur of dissent. He is tender and loving and kind, and a natural born storyteller.
He wanted a party with just his best friend and I was more than happy to oblige. Happy birthday lovely boy.
